renovated
Balduck
Park
Highlights
include
improved
lighting,
beautiful
landscaping
and
top-of-the-line
baseball
field
and
amenities

UAW-Ford
today
celebrated
“Opening
Day” of
the
newly
remodeled
Balduck
Park in
a
ceremony
featuring:
community
leaders,
current
and
former
members
of the
Detroit
Tigers
and
Detroit
Lions,
representatives
of Eagle
Sports
and
residents
of East
English
Village.
In an
effort
to
provide
residents
a clean
and safe
sporting
environment,
UAW-Ford
donated
nearly
$2
million
to
install
new
restrooms,
bleachers,
scoreboards,
lighting,
grass
and
landscaping.
Located
in
Detroit’s
East
English
Village,
at
Chandler
Park Dr.
and
Canyon
St., a
parade
featuring
Cass
Technical
High
School
High
School
Marching
Band
kicked
off the
festivities.
Several
community
leaders
were in
attendance,
including:
UAW-Ford
Vice
President
Jimmy
Settles;
Ford
Motor
Company
Vice
President
of Labor
Affairs
Bill
Dirksen;
and,
Eagle
Sports
baseball
teams,
along
with
former
and
current
Detroit
Tigers
players
Willie
Horton,
Torii
Hunter,
Austin
Jackson,
Rajai
Davis
and Team
Mascot
PAWS.
“It’s
not
often
that you
get to
work
with
someone
who
shares
your
vision
and
passion
for the
community
like
retired
vice
president
of labor
affairs
for Ford
Motor
Company,
Marty
Mulloy,”
said
UAW-Ford
Vice
President
Jimmy
Settles.
“But I
was
fortunate
to have
that
kind of
partner
during
the
process
of
constructing
the
UAW-Ford
Field at
Balduck
Park.
“Marty
began
this
journey
with me,
was
instrumental
in
getting
funds
approved
for the
project,
and saw
the need
to
provide
a
state-of-the-art
ballpark
for our
kids in
the City
of
Detroit,”
Settles
added.
“I am so
proud
and so
happy to
see our
joint
dream
finally
realized.”

the
renovation
at
Balduck
Park,”
said
Ford
Motor
Company
Vice
President
of Labor
Affairs
Bill
Dirksen.
“At
Ford, we

only

building

Eagle
Sports,
in
conjunction
with the
City of
Detroit,
will
contribute
to the
maintenance
and
upkeep
of
Balduck
Park.

community

sports
programs
every
bit as
good as
any
other
community,”
said
Eagle
Sports
Club
Founding
Director
Doug
Kempton.

the

programs
